📝 Weighted Grade Calculator
Calculate a final grade from scores and weights.
About this tool
Calculates a final course grade from individual assignment scores and their weights — the way most syllabi actually calculate grades, rather than a simple average.
Once you have final grades for all your courses, the GPA Calculator combines them, weighted by credit hours, into an overall GPA.
Worked example
A midterm worth 30% scored at 85%, a final worth 40% scored at 90%, and homework worth 30% scored at 95% averages out to a weighted final grade of about 90.0%.
How to use it
- Add a row for each assignment, quiz, or exam.
- Enter the score percentage and its weight percentage.
- Press Calculate grade to see your weighted final.
Tips
- Weights should reflect your actual syllabus — check the breakdown your instructor provided.
- If weights don't add up to 100%, the calculator still works by normalizing against the total weight entered.
- For GPA across multiple whole courses rather than assignments within one course, use the GPA Calculator instead.
FAQ
What if my weights don't add up to 100%?
The calculator normalizes against whatever total weight you've entered, so it still gives an accurate weighted average.
Can I add extra credit?
Yes — add it as another row with its own score and weight.
Is this the same as GPA?
No — this calculates a grade within one course from assignments; GPA combines grades across multiple courses.
